Art Talk | Avantika Bawa

Join artist, curator and educator Avantika Bawa for a free Art Talk on the first Tuesday in May. In April, Avantika created a large-scale installation in the Annex at the Bush Barn Art Center, titled Beyond the Wall. Come hear from the artist as she discusses her techniques and inspirations for making art.

Avantika has an MFA in Painting from the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA in the same from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. She currently lives in Portland but also spends time in her hometown of New Delhi, India. In addition to being an internationally-exhibited artist, Avantika was also appointed to the board of the Oregon Arts Commission 2014, and was a co-creator of Drain – Journal for Contemporary Art Culture. She is currently Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington.

A meeting of the SAA Gallery Guides will take place after the Art Talk. Those interested in learning more about this important group of volunteer docents are welcome to attend the meeting.
