Artist-in-Residence: Kate Speckman

May 1-June 8
Reception: Friday, May 5 | 5:30-7:30 pm
The Annex at the Bush Barn Art Center | 600 Mission St. SE Salem

The rich history of the Bush House Museum and its collections will serve as inspiration for quilt designs during Kate Speckman’s residency. Bringing a fresh aesthetic to the tradition of quilting by using colorful fabrics and twists on time-honored patterns, color and texture will be her guiding objective. Besides being a seamstress and quilter, Kate is also a ceramic artist and gardener, and enjoys subjecting her family to creative recipes in the kitchen. Kate has been active with the Salem Art Association as an artist, volunteer and board member, and has donated ceramic and fabric works. She has lived in Salem since the mid-1980s.

Salem Art Association exhibitions are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 am-5 pm, and Saturday-Sunday from Noon-5 pm.
