Kristin Solomon
Creative Business Strategist & Blackfish Gallery Director
Kristin Solomon is a Creative Business Strategist with over 20 years experience in arts administration. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and a Masters in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute, in New York City. Kristin manages multiple roles in the local arts community. She is the part-time Director of Blackfish Gallery, an artist-owned cooperative in the heart of the Pearl Arts District. She is also the Founder and Lead Principal of Arts and Cultural Management, an agency that advises artists and non-profit organizations on strategic planning and development. She offers her guidance through one-on-one coaching sessions, workshops, retreats, and online courses through her new platform THINK WITH YOUR HEART INSTITUTE ONLINE. In addition, she serves on the Boards of the Portland Art Dealers Association, Portland Open Studios, Creative Arts Community, and the Friends of Menucha Foundation.

Melanie Weston
Melanie Weston, Gallery owner, Director, Salem on the Edge
Melanie Weston is the owner of Salem on the Edge, a fine art gallery in downtown Salem. Originally from Seattle, WA, she attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she earned a BFA before going on to the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and received an MFA. After graduate school, she returned to Seattle, where she spent many years as an estate gardener, creating and maintaining beautiful landscapes for private clients, before becoming a personal assistant for families and individuals. Melanie moved to Salem in 2008 and spent 12 years working for the Hallie Ford Museum. In 2019, she opened Salem on the Edge, her fine art gallery in the downtown business district. She represents artists from Salem and all over Oregon with dynamic exhibits that change monthly and include special events like the February erotica show and the August plein air show. Melanie maintains an active presence on Instagram, where she reminds us daily that art makes life better.
