Artist Statement

Jennifer has been painting on and off since she was given a paint by number kit when she was ten years old. Her next step was to copy the colorful paintings of Matisse through which she learned the joy of color.

Later she experienced the wonder, satisfaction and struggle of creating her own work.

Color and texture have always been an important factor in Jennifer’s work.

She failed miserably when she was encouraged to develop a ‘style’ and ‘stick with it’, and went on to experiment with many series, using different subject matter and techniques.

Jennifer is never sure what will happen when she starts to paint. There is a concept and a beginning, but then the work takes over and she follows its lead. There really is no message in her work other than the joy and beauty of the miracle of life.

As you can see in this ‘Selection’, over the years, she has let her mind be open to and, influenced by, a constant striving to find the ultimate painting. The journey continues…
