ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am Josh Deeney. 

I’m a photographer with a background in mathematics. I want to make photos without regard to trends or popularity. While creating, I follow a philosophy of keepings things as close as possible to how they are perceived. My aim is to arrange the world in a pleasing way, informed by my hopefully unique insights, and to share these arrangements with you through the lens of a camera. My name is Joshua Deeney but please call me Josh. I completed a Bachelors of Mathematics in 2018, managed a warehouse for a few months, quit to start a VR Arcade with my best friend, and then retracted my plans with the advent of Covid 19. Since then, I decided to practice photography, realized that things I learned in college help me make the kind of photos I want, and have been enjoying pouring my time into becoming better at it ever since. I shoot a lot of what I love and I love my home state of Oregon. I occasionally work construction, tend a vegetable garden and orchard, and volunteer; all of which also inform my photography subject choices.
