Talleres de juegos tradicionales mexicanos | Workshops on Traditional Mexican Games

Instruction is in Spanish, but English interpretation will be provided.

Esta serie de talleres gratuitos explora juegos mexicanos tradicionales – específicamente el poder del juego, donde la intención es que la imaginación es el ingrediente principal y las reglas son prescriptivas al igual que juguetonas.

Los talleres son dirigidos hacia las familias con niñes niñas y niños de 5-12 años pero todas las edades son bienvenidos. Estos talleres de 90 minutos van a cubrir diferentes juegos mexicanos de recreo como brincando cuerda, el resorte, haciendo baleros, el lobo, y Doña Blanca entre otros. La instrucción será en español pero proveeremos interpretación a inglés.

Esta serie se llevará a cabo en el Bush Barn Art Center y Annex, 600 Mission St. SE, en Salem Oregon.

This series of free workshops explores Mexican traditional games — specifically the power of play, where imagination is meant to be the main ingredient and rules are both prescriptive and nonsensical.

The workshops are aimed at families with children ages 5-12, but all ages are welcome. These 90-minute workshops will cover different Mexican children’s playground games such as jump rope, el resorte (elastic), crafting baleros (ball in cup), el lobo (the wolf), and Doña Blanca among others. Instruction is in Spanish, but English interpretation will be provided.

The series takes place at the Bush Barn Art Center & Annex, 600 Mission St. SE, in Salem, Oregon.
