2015 Poster Artist

The limited edition poster for the 66th Annual Salem Art Fair & Festival is drawn from an original print, titled Autumn Red, created by Portland, Oregon artist Kelli MacConnell. Posters will be available beginning July 10 at Fine Art Friday at the Bush Barn Art Center. Signed posters will be $25 unframed, and $80 framed.

Kelli MacConnell is an avid outdoors enthusiast who has hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail. After moving to Portland, Oregon from Cincinnati, Ohio, MacConnell immersed herself in the local artistic community and Oregon’s wilderness. She discovered her love of printmaking soon after while at Portland State University and has since sought to share her love of the outdoors, and more specifically the Pacific Northwest, through her work. Of her recent work, MacConnell says:

“I want to take the viewer on a journey to the places in nature that have brought me respite. The dream-like interpretations of these landscapes are meant to enchant the viewer, leaving them with a feeling of peace and a sense of curiosity, questioning whether or not these places really exist. My current body of work focuses on linocut prints of the expansive and diverse environment of the Pacific Northwest Landscape. With the simple use of contrast and minimal color, as well as line manipulation, I strive to create exhilarating compositions inspired by the natural world.”
