Artist in Residence | Alberto Maldonado

Artist in Residence | Alberto Maldonado
June, 1 – 30 2021

Alberto will be exploring various art mediums in the studio, which will allow him a focused space for art-making. Youth from Youth Era, a youth-based organization, will visit during his AIR.

About the Artist

Born in Frankfurt, Germany during his father’s six year tour there, Alberto was raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. After graduating from Lawton Senior High School, Alberto attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma – majoring in Theology and Philosophy, with an emphasis on ministry. Raised in a faith-based home, Alberto’s family routinely attended church and assisted with church functions. For Alberto, this included serving as a youth pastor and providing music during services.

Alberto has a steady work history in management and sales but was searching for a job that provided for more than his monetary needs. He was looking to fulfill his calling to counsel others, especially teens and young adults. Being an integral part of Youth ERA allows Alberto to minister to others who may be dealing with similar difficulties or situations which he experienced during his early 20s.

As a recent transplant to Oregon, Alberto enjoys being led around by his wife on various new adventures. When he gets some quiet time at home, Alberto can be found painting, working on his novel or playing one of his various instruments. Musically inclined, he often practices his cello, keyboard or guitar – but the drums are his favorite.
