JULY, 1 – 31, 2021
ART DROP-OFF | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23 – SATURDAY, JUNE 26 | 10 AM – 2 PM BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

The Salem Salon is back! After more than a year of not seeing one another, or even worse, not seeing any art, this year’s Salem Salon, a non-juried, community art exhibition, is back! The Salon is one of our most popular exhibitions. Salem Art Association (SAA) invites artists in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill Counties to participate in our summer exhibition – SALEM SALON –BETTER TOGETHER. <

IN-PERSON SUMMER CAMPS ARE BACK!

Following the health and safety guidelines from the Governor’s Office and Youth Programs guidance from the Oregon Health Authority, the Salem Art Association (SAA) is excited to offer a modified schedule of summer camps in late July and early August 2021.

All of our camps will prioritize the health and safety of all participating children and adults.

June, 1 – 30 2021

My creative process involves applying layers of paint, ink, papers, and pencil. I react to each layer then decide what it needs next. The elements of design are always in the back of my mind, creating a strong composition through the balance of line, shape, and color. However, my decisions are more of an intuitive flow than an intentional, conscious thought. I enjoy using polar concepts; transparent and opaque colors, soft and hard edges, thick and thin lines.

ART UNITES US IN ACTION

Due to the impacts of the pandemic, Salem Art Association is closed until further notice. However this organization remains committed to building community through the arts and this is something we bequeath to the future.

We stand together and know that art in our lives is absolutely pivotal in understanding one another, in finding common ground, and in imagining creative solutions together. Art brings us together and unites us in our humanity. It enhances our natural instinct to overcome obstacles and to care for each other – to remember what it means to be human, especially during the most challenging times.

Offering a virtual learning component is another way that the Salem Art Association is striving to ensure that kids stay connected to the arts.
