About the Artist: Meteor Rider (Hiratsuka)
Born in Osaka, Japan, Hiratsuka is an internationally recognized printmaker and educator. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Tokyo Gakugei University, a Master of Arts in Printmaking from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Indiana University. He served as a professor of art at Oregon State University for 30 years.
Hiratsuka has presented numerous solo exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally, including Italy, Japan, Russia, Canada, Northern Ireland, and South Korea. His work is held in major public collections worldwide, including The British Museum; Tokyo Central Art Museum; the Library of Congress; the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art; the Portland Art Museum; the New York Public Library; and many others.
