TALK AND PERFORMANCE BY JEWISH IRISH MUSICIAN JOSEPH LINAHON

Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 6:00 p.m -7:00 p.m.

Join us for a night of story and song highlighting the duality of Jewish life in America and hear a live performance of traditional Irish music. An Irish American Jew who hails from California, Joseph has made a career as a professional musician playing in the Irish music circuit—but are there other Jewish-Irish musicians?!! Joseph will share his experience performing in Oregon, as well as on the road all the way from Canada down to Las Vegas. Joseph speaks about his experiences in the Irish music scene, where antisemitism and anti-Irish sentiments alike have led this musician to believe we often have more in common than one would think, and of the importance of music in bridging that gap.

About Joseph Linahon

Weaving together song and story, Joseph Linahon is a Celtic folk musician with a

hard-strumming, foot-stomping style. Since 2022, he has performed across the Western US and Canada, singing choruses new and old accompanied by the melodies of his

Irish Bouzouki and traditional Bodhran drum. Born in 1990 to a house full of life and music, Joseph lived in Los Angeles for 26 years, in the same melting pot where his parents met– an Irish jazz musician from Iowa who fell for a Jewish girl from California. Raised in an area that

celebrated diversity, it wasn’t until his teenage years that Joseph experienced

antisemitic violence in Venice Beach, an experience that helped shape both his caution as a Jew and protection and support received from inside and outside of Temple, highlighting the importance of community and connection in our daily lives.
