Gallery Guides

Since the opening of the Bush Barn Art Center in 1965, the Gallery Guides have been greeting visitors and guiding tours in the  A.N. Bush Gallery. The Gallery Guides are a pivotal piece of the fabric at the Salem Art Association, providing support at  receptions for exhibiting artists, assisting with fundraising events and even helping with education opportunities for children.

Gallery guides meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 1pm. The meeting often starts with a featured artist talking  about their work on display in the gallery and guests and the public are welcome.

Gallery Guides agree to sit in the gallery once a month for a 2-1/2 to 3 hour shift. A monthly newsletter is sent out telling of events  and art exhibits in the galleries. Gallery Guides main fund raising event is through the sale of sno-cones at the SAA Art Fair and  Festival. These funds provide the support that Gallery Guides donates to the education programs sponsored by the Salem Art  Association.

Gallery Guides membership is $35 per year, which includes SAA membership. To learn more about becoming a Gallery Guide, call  503-581-2228 or email galleries@SalemArt.org.

Gallery Guides is an excellent opportunity to meet people with like interests and with an appreciation for the arts.
