EILEEN COTTER HOWELL, VIRTUAL ART FAIR DIRECTOR

It’s time to take a breath and talk about the importance of teamwork. Daniel Burnett, Eliz Snowcarp, Dia Devine, Chloe Lawton, Frank Miller, Sandra Burnett and I worked on this project 7 days a week for 7 weeks. We know that this weekend will be the test of the Virtual Art Fair’s success or failure. We also know that the process itself was a success.

Teamwork doesn’t mean thinking and acting blindly with one mind. Without our varied backgrounds and accumulated knowledge, we would have had nothing. Every person was essential.

Teamwork doesn’t mean that when someone disagrees with you, they become your enemy. They are simply someone who disagrees with you and it’s your job to hear why.

One of the most essential skills of teamwork is active listening. Another is understanding the importance of the task at hand.
Our job was to build connections for 126 artists in this Covid economy and to fashion a new chapter in our 71-year Salem Community tradition. We are not in the Park this year, but the Salem Art Fair is happening!
Community, Resilience, and above all, a Love of the Creative Spirit.
Thank you, Team.
Eileen Cotter Howell Director, Salem Virtual Art Fair 2020

Demo Area

In these days of prefabrication and mass production, it’s easy to overlook the knowledge and enormous skill required to create a one-of-a-kind work of art from start to finish. Every original artwork passes directly from the hands of its maker to you.

Watch these professional artists at work!
