Artist’s Statement:

Cuando la Asociación de Arte de Salem nos planteó por primera vez la idea de hacer una exposición con temática de Oregón, nos pidieron que incluyéramos historias para acompañar mis cuadros, como habíamos hecho con mis  

Me crié en Portland y Jean en Salem, en el seno de familias de Oregón con varias líneas que se remontan a los primeros colonos de Corvallis, que se abrieron paso a través del Camino de Oregón.  Nuestras raíces pioneras son tan profundas como las de cualquier otro lugar.   

Though a stint with the Air Force briefly took us out of state, we always knew we wanted to raise our children here.  Oregon is our place.  It’s where we belong and will always know as home. 

Esta es nuestra historia de Oregón y de nuestra familia.  No podemos contar una sin la otra.

Artist Biography:

Known locally as “that artist/dentist,” James takes his manual dexterity and aesthetic sense from the dental chair to the pastel canvas.  James has a rich history with Salem Art Association, including creating the 2006 Salem Art Fair & Festival poster.  James has twice won “Best of Show” for NW Pastel Society’s International Exhibition.
