Nikesha Breeze is an international artist working across a diverse range of media whose innovative approach has garnered national and international acclaim. Her practice calls upon ancestral memory and archival resurrection to revive stories long erased from the global narrative, engaging deeply with themes of grief, sanctuary, power and presence, visibility, and erasure.

Gardens and arboretums have always fascinated me - from small, well-loved, backyard efforts, to  amazing formal gardens like Jardin des Plantes in Paris - all of these are places of mystery and awe for  me. Whether experiencing the magic of seed-to-flower transformations, or exploring the almost  unimaginable forms and structures of the plants themselves, or the discovery of unknown creatures who  inhabit these worlds, there was always something that drew me to these places

THE SNAIL BLOG: KEEPING IN TOUCH | ELLEN CROCKET TO BONNIE HULL

The Snail Blog, “a story of friendship and 5,000 postcards”, shares the correspondence of Ellen Crocket, who moved to from Salem to Vermont decades ago, to Salem artist Bonnie Hull.

After 100 days the initial stack of postcards was gone, but Crocket continued on with the daily ritual to her friend in Oregon. Over the next 16 years, hundreds of daily postcards became thousands, passing the 5,000 mark earlier this year.

BUSH HOUSE MUSEUM ARCHITECTURE TOUR: HISTORY AND MYSTERIES

Are you curious about the architecture of the Bush House Museum? What’s with that door to nowhere? Why is the basement mostly above ground? What's with those two steps up from the servants level? What style is this architecture and who was the architect?

Take a deep dive into the architecture of the Bush House. Learn about its Italianate style of architecture, rooted in Italian villa design and the Romantic movement in 19th century art. Explore finely crafted wood and metal details and exquisite marble fireplaces throughout the house.

76th Annual Salem Art Fair & Festival
September 12 - 14, 2025

Salem Art Fair & Festival is an honored 76-year-old event is one of the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and draws artists from around the country.

Each week is different and offers high-quality opportunities for youth to learn about Art and Art History in a nurturing environment at the Salem Art Association (SAA). All camps take place at the Bush Barn Art Center & Annex in Salem's Bush's Pasture Park.

6/23 – 6/27 ~ Theme: Pacific Ocean
7/7 – 7/11 ~ Theme: Oregon Coast
7/21 – 7/25 ~ Weekly art theme: Oregon Wetlands
7/28 – 8/1 ~ Theme: Pacific NW Forests
8/11 – 8/15 ~ Theme: Cascade Mountains
8/18 – 8/22 ~ Theme: Oregon Desert

Each week has two sessions: the morning session is for kids 8-10 years old and will last from 9 a.m. to noon. Afternoon sessions are for kids 11-13 years old and run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
