Jew& is an exhibition that challenges expectations about who Jewish artists are and the duality of the Jewish experience. Created and curated by Jessica Rehfield for the Salem Art Association, the exhibition brings together the work of 25 Jewish artists, authors, musicians, poets, and performers from the Willamette Valley in a two-month exploration of contemporary Jewish identity.

MY THIRD CHILDHOOD | LIMEI LAI

Limei Lai combines mixed media art, writing, and projection to reflect on her life between two cultures. She is curious about how history, memories and art inform one another. This body of work translates her findings in Asian American history research and Asian immigrant women interviews, focusing on women’s life experiences, intergenerational communications, and cultural conflicts.

Art has served as a window and portal to stay connected to our roots, traditions and family. Our hope is that this work will invite you to connect with your own windows of memories.

MAKEUP ARTISTRY: IT’S NOT JUST POWDER AND LIPSTICK, YOU KNOW! | SCOTT RAMP

Makeup Artistry encompasses every aspect for the film actor, from basic powder and cosmetics to the most detailed special effects imaginable. Scott Ramp is a Salem native who worked in the industry in Los Angeles for 40 years and currently provides his products for large-scale Halloween events in amusement parks around the world. Come enjoy the Special Effects world and feel free to touch the displays of some of Scott’s work.

Each week is different and offers high-quality opportunities for youth to learn about Art and Art History in a nurturing environment at the Salem Art Association (SAA). All camps take place at the Bush Barn Art Center & Annex in Salem's Bush's Pasture Park.

Each week has two sessions: the morning session is for kids 8-10 years old and will last from 9 a.m. to noon. Afternoon sessions are for kids 11-13 years old and run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

BUSH HOUSE MUSEUM ARCHITECTURE TOUR: HISTORY AND MYSTERIES

SUNDAY, MAY 17, 2026 FROM 1:30 P.M TO 2:30 P.M. | BUSH HOUSE MUSEUM

Are you curious about the architecture of the Bush House Museum? What’s with that door to nowhere? Why is the basement mostly above ground? What's with those two steps up from the servants level? What style is this architecture and who was the architect?

Take a deep dive into the architecture of the Bush House. Learn about its Italianate style of architecture, rooted in Italian villa design and the Romantic movement in 19th century art. Explore finely crafted wood and metal details and exquisite marble fireplaces throughout the house.

Enter at the atrium into the Annex. Please register to let us know you are coming, but if you find you can make it last minute, we welcome you to stop by. Please bring your own projects to work on. Our mission is to strengthen our local community of artists by meeting in person to share ideas, lend support, get to know each other, and brainstorm ways to promote each other's endeavors.
