CALLS FOR ARTIST

Weekly Artists Gatherings

SUNDAYS 2025 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

*We will take November 30, December 21 and 28 off for holidays and resume Jan 4, 2026!

Gatherings will take place weekly on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm. Enter at the atrium into the Annex. Please register to let us know you are coming, but if you find you can make it last minute, we welcome you to stop by.

Please bring your own projects to work on. Our mission is to strengthen our local community of artists by meeting in person to share ideas, lend support, get to know each other, and brainstorm ways to promote each other’s endeavors.

2026 Artist-In-Residence are open!

Application deadline is December 15, 2025

This residency offers a dedicated studio space for artist(s) to experiment and create new work. The SAA Artist-in-Residence program offers an experimental space for artists to develop their work and collaborate.

Zine Library

ON GOING OPEN CALL FOR ZINES FOR THE SAA ZINE COLLECTION AND LIBRARY

The Salem Art Association (SAA) seeks artists, writers, creatives and community members to participate in zine submissions throughout the year for our Salem Art Association Zine Collection and Library. This Collection houses ZINES from across Oregon covering a wide range of topics and is permanently housed on the SAA Annex landing.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

SAA welcomes all artists making original zines to participate and invites multi-media artworks, and artists and writers who identify as immigrants, refugees, disabled, LGBTQ+, people of color, veterans and/or rural artists are strongly encouraged.

Past Programs

Artist Studio Visits

Pilot Artists Studio Visits for small cohorts of artists. With a focus on building community and creating conversation a series of scheduled visit happened to established Salem artists’ studios. The program launched in 2023 was for both emerging and established artists. Let us know if you would like to see more of this programing in the future.

Zine Project

Further exploring the rich world of zines and SAA’s Zine library was the goal of 2023 Zine Project that featured a zine show in the Focus Gallery, Collaboration with 16 downtown business, a zine artists, as well as a two part zine video be SAA Artist-In-Resident Adam Romano, and open studio With Artist-In-Resident Victoria Timm. The rich world of zines through works submitted by artists, writers, and members of Salem’s creative community!  Learn about other parts of SAA’s zine project!
